A Foundation of Generosity: OneAscent’s Strategic Ministry Partners

November 29, 2022

As the holiday season approaches, more financial conversations around generosity arise. We believe generosity starts with viewing God as the owner. All that we have been blessed with is a gift, one we can steward well for the good of those around us.

We believe this for ourselves, but also for our company. OneAscent supports 7 Strategic Ministry Partners in our ministry efforts both locally and around the world.

How We Support Our Strategic Ministry Partners

Prayer is one of the most important ways we can support these Strategic Ministry Partners. We keep in touch with these organizations monthly to hear about their efforts and greatest needs and incorporate these requests into our weekly prayer meetings.

We also give a percentage of our bottom line to these partners. Our hope is that these financial gifts can continue to grow over time to increase our ability to meet these organizations’ needs financially.

We recently implemented a plan that provides 40 hours of paid volunteer time to our team to serve these partners with their time and talents. This helps our team impact the communities around them with their spiritual gifts.

Ashley Alliston, OneAscent Wealth Client Service Specialist, has spent time serving the Grace Klein Community. “I helped edit and re-format the monthly and quarterly newsletters from the past year. It was great to dive into the lives of the kids that are being helped and follow the many developments and improvements the school is making to upgrade their facilities.”

Our Marketing Associate Savannah Stewart shared, “I volunteered at Lifeline’s R(un) for One 5K fundraising event in September by helping out with registration and check-in. This run raises so much awareness and funds to benefit unadopted children around the world, but I am not gifted to be a runner (🙂), so I was so thankful for the opportunity to still be involved and help in a practical way. Lifeline’s ministry has always been near and dear to my heart, but especially in light of recent events, I’m more thankful now than ever to be able to serve with them hands-on and to work for an organization that intentionally partners with Lifeline.”

Chad Harrison also volunteered with Lifeline Children’s services by stuffing bags for participants of the 5k run. He said, “I enjoyed my time there and my conversation with the wonderful employees of Lifeline Children’s Services. We worked as a team to get the runners’ bags full of goodies ready. I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation we had together while working. It was nice to free my mind from work and do some minor physical labor for a change. The task was right up my alley. I used to be a runner myself and was familiar with how things were to be done. I really appreciate Lifeline and OneAscent for the opportunity.”

Everyone on our team has had the chance to take a spiritual gifts survey and talk with our Director of Ministry Giving about their results. Our desire is to use this information to better serve our ministry partners and volunteer more effectively. We don’t just want to support financially, but to be able to say, “We have two people who are evangelists, or someone who has the gift of mercy, or organization. How can we use that to help you?”

In addition to supporting these partners through prayer, financial support, and service, we also:

  • Allow local partners to use our boardroom for meetings and events
  • Host lunch & learns for the ministry partners to share about what they’ve been doing
  • Support employees for short-term mission trips with these organizations
  • Engage with events and meet special needs as they arise

We do this to fulfill our role in the Acts 1:8 mandate. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” OneAscent Wealth has the ability to come alongside those committed to serving our community, our country, and our world. If we believe generosity is an essential part of every Christian’s financial life, it should be a tangible part of ours as well.

We believe in the mission and impact each of these organizations is making. We also want to help our clients connect with organizations that align with their passions and desires for stewardship.
